Engagement Letter

Letter #1:
Before we make a formal announcement, James and I want to let you know that we have decided to get married during the holidays. He surprised me with a ring last week after the homecoming dance, and I said yes. As you know we were good friends back home, but when we started seeing each other here at school, we realized our relationship had deepened. I'm glad we were friends before we were lovers.

We hope you will join us at 4:00 o'clock, December 28, in the Mascot church on Main Street. The ceremony will be modest with mainly family and close friends. A larger dinner party will follow from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. We hope you will join us.

I can't believe how well things are working out. We will both graduate in the spring and are excited to begin our lives together. We will have more to tell you during the holidays.

Letter #2:
All other bids failing, my fiance graciously consented to remove me from the dating auction block. Yup, Ashley and I have decided to tie the knot. We will be married August 14.

I have been pursuing Ashley for years. I guess she just got tired of seeing me in her rearview mirror and finally invited me to sit in the front seat with her. She's a good woman. We will send invitations, but I wanted each of you have plenty of advance notice. No excuses for not attending! We want to see each of you at the reception doing the hustle. After our wedding, I'll stick around here eking out a living and Ashley will finish up her J.D. degree. At last I'll be a contented man.
