Own Retirement

Letter #1:
It's time to express my appreciation for the great friendships I have had here at Derekson's over the past years. As some of you know, I am retiring at the end of May and plan to move to my old hometown of Footscray. I hope to do some writing on the history of that area before all the early residents are gone.

I know Derek has been considering two candidates for my position, and I feel good about them both. Either will do an excellent job. They both have a wealth of experience and are easy to work with. It's good to feel that I am leaving my work in good hands.

Leaving will not be entirely easy. I have genuinely enjoyed working with our great staff. Please remember us at the summer picnic and feel welcome to drop in to see us in Footscray.

Letter #2:
On June 30, I am retiring from Derekson Corporation after thirty years in the trenches. It has really been rewarding and discouraging; carefree and tense; delightful and hateful. Well, you get the picture. It's time to put this old mare out to pasture in Tucson, Arizona, for some golfing and tanning. It's strange being replaced by a computer, but at least her feelings won't be hurt when she gets criticized for a statistical error.

I have loved my job and co-workers and will miss each of you dearly. My husband and I will keep a vacant room with a comfortable bed for visitors! We hope you will accept the standing invitation.

Letter #3:
At long last the date of my retirement is here! On November 12, exactly thirty-two years after my trying first day with Derekson Corporation, I'll be leaving my desk for the last time. Derek and I will be moving to Montana, where I understand the trout fishing is much better than in downtown Footscray.

You all know Lisa has been working with me for the past three weeks, and I feel she is exceptionally well qualified to take over where I leave off. I have many fond memories of my time with Derekson, and most of them involve the wonderful group of people I've worked with. I will miss you all so much, but never fear; you haven't seen the last of me! We will be making visits back to our old stomping grounds at least twice a year, so count on a call.

Letter #4:
I have sincerely appreciated the association I have had with each of you over the past several years so it is with some reluctance that I write this letter. After much thought and careful consideration, I have decided to retire from Derekson and Derekson.

As you know, Derek Derekson has been my partner and has done an excellent job in helping to manage the practice. I am turning the practice over to Derek and Lisa Smith. Lisa has been with the firm for over a year and has also done a tremendous job helping us to maintain the client service that I have endeavored to provide since starting this practice ten years ago.

I have great confidence in Derek and Lisa. They are deeply committed to client satisfaction and are looking forward to working with you in the future. I urge you to continue working with Derek and Lisa to handle your legal needs.
